Camp Wigwam is a boys' sleep-away camp known for its nurturing, low key environment. And while it offers a variety of outdoor facilities to pursue sports and related activities, it doesn’t have an indoor facility devoted to other pursuits and for use on rainy days. This 25,000 sf indoor activity building more than makes up for it.
Designed in rustic Maine barn style, it is entered through an ample porch-like portico. The central space is a multi-purpose gym which can function as a basketball court and includes a weight training room, showers and locker rooms. Extending from one side are three racket-ball courts and from another is a multi-purpose theater and stage. Altogether, this facility will make the camp even more well-rounded and welcoming.
The camp commissioned this design in honor of its Centennial Anniversary and is currently in the midst of an alumni capital campaign to raise funds to construct the building. Construction is targeted to commence fall of 2017.
